The Wall Street Journal - WSJ Buy Side

Senior Software Engineer | Full-stack

2021 — 2024

Software engineer on the team that built Buy Side from WSJ from scratch — roughly a year of development before the public launch in June 2022. Embedded full-time inside the WSJ team — JIRA, daily standups, retrospectives, sprint planning, and global team meetings — under WSJ's full-time contractor process. Built and refined the Buy Side content surface (all-articles, about-us, how-things-are-reviewed, dynamic article and category pages) with pagination, login, and article-link wiring. Drove QA cycles around layout, bylines, hero images, category routing, and responsive grid issues. On the broader WSJ Commerce platform, implemented the mobile navbar, breadcrumb building for the article header, and search-results handling. Added the All Articles by Category page and the Bio Page request flow, and stabilized the codebase through dependency cleanup and reusable navigation components. Delivered the initial product launch and the post-launch hardening; ongoing operation later transitioned to other teams.
